Yards & Yards of freshly dyed silks

It was a rainy day today and the post man bought me a lovely bundle of new silk. So the only place to be was in my studio. Dying silks is like brewing tea. Looking for the perfect shade takes time and patients. Adding a few petals, a handful of leaves and heating to the right temperature to get the perfect blend is so rewarding. The aroma is intoxicating. Each one so different some sweet, floral and heady. Others are woody and mossy like the woodland on a damp and warm evening. After many hours steeping the exciting part is peeking in to the pots and finding what nature has left behind. Soft hues that echo of days gone by.
